two weeks in and i’m settled and smiling :) i’ve met some wonderful people and done/seen a lot of cool things since the last time i wrote. the weather is getting hotter, the jelly fish are coming to the mediterranean, and the programming is ramping up… let’s debrief on my second(ish) week!

last week my roommates and i had a quick dinner at Rustico, an italian restaurant outside of sarona market (get used to me talking about sarona- i love it so much and go on the daily). i got pasta with lemon and garlic sauce with spinach and we all shared this heavenly burrata with eggplant, chili, arugula, and olive oil. so fresh and delicious. i’m certainly not dying to go back immediately since there are endless restaurants for me to explore, but the meal was great and we were all very happy.

next up: calypso! the perfect lunch spot at gordon beach. we celebrated my roommates birthday here with classic israeli food & drinks. this greek salad with lots of feta was to die for and i obviously also had some schnitzel and fries because #balanceiskey.

casa de acai was my pick me up on the way to the beach the following day. this refreshing smoothie was everything to me and more than necessary for the boiling hot walk. i got a small smoothie with mango, pineapple, raspberries, and fresh orange juice. the fruit here is unmatched and i also like to make sure i’m still eating a bunch of fresh fruits and vegetables while enjoying the local treats cause that’s what makes me feel my best.

i spent my morning yesterday working at the little prince bookshop since i was remote. best recommendation from my sister, this place was the absolute cutest!!!! indoor and outdoor space to work and eat, and if had gotten a shadier seat i probably would have stayed the entire day. i worked on my farm to table & food waste articles for my internship while enjoying a croissant and iced coffee (here they call it cold coffee, if you ask for ice it comes blended!) with almond milk.

wrapped up my day at the international day of yoga celebration at sarona market :) i’m no yogi but this was so peaceful and relaxing, and it was fun to go with a few friends and just enjoy the evening weather and good vibes. the entire yoga class was in hebrew so i followed along as well as i could and after it was over i picked up a pita with crispy eggplant, lemon, tahini, herbs + vegetables for dinner.

next week i have a day trip to jerusalem and a few other programming activities. this was a great few days but i’m so excited for what’s to come! thanks for following along :)

yalla ♥️,

sydney
