The Cherry On Top: January 11th, 2026

We’re back and better than ever in 2026 - Hi Flour Child Fam !!! I’ve missed you and I’ve definitely missed writing. Welcome back to The Cherry On Top, a weekly roundup of the highlights of my week. This week I focused on building consistency to set my year up for success — The book Atomic Habits says it takes 14 days to build a habit and that’s what I’m following!

Favorite thing I cooked: Chinese Chicken Lettuce Cups

This meal is truly so easy and delicious! Ground chicken sautéed with carrots, jalapeños, sesame oil, garlic, and a mix of sauces (soy sauce, Momofuku Korean BBQ sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, chili flakes). This is such a great meal to prep in a big batch and heat up as needed, and then serve with lettuce cups & top with more Momofuku BBQ sauce and sesame seeds. It tastes like takeout while still hitting my nutrition goals and making me feel so good. Highly recommend!

Favorite Activity: Dance Cardio Class

If you know me, you know that I used to be a competitive dancer growing up and also took 305 fitness classes periodically through college. It felt so good to get back in a studio and dance again! While this was a very different kind of class than I’ve been used to, incorporating different styles like Latin & Jazz Funk, I loved the energy of the class and environment the teacher created. I go to Chelsea Piers Fitness in Flatiron — they have so many different kinds of classes to try; if you’re looking for a gym in Manhattan it’s a great option.

Favorite Meal Out: Meatballs with Creamy Tomato Orzo & Spinach

Last Wednesday I cooked dinner with Sammi & Bobby and made a recipe from Brocc Your Body — meatballs with creamy tomato orzo, and we added sautéed spinach with garlic on the side. The original recipe calls for chicken meatballs, but the butcher was out of ground chicken. We ended up using ground beef and this was so delicious! It took around 45 minutes to bring everything together but ultimately a very easy recipe to follow with minimal ingredients. Such a crowd pleaser and we’ll definitely be trying more of her recipes next.

Favorite Moment: Productive & Pretty Mornings

It used to be so hard for me to wake up early but this week I was really determined to fit in my workouts in the morning. This felt so good! I loved being up early among the quiet streets and calm energy. This routine made me feel more energized and productive each day and also made the sleeping in days that much sweeter. Looking forward to continuing it this week — see you at the sunrise!!!

Thanks for stopping by The Flour Child! Wishing you a week with many moments that feel like the cherry on top 🍒 See you next Sunday.
